There's a question that we get asked a lot of Squarespace websites... It goes a little something like this.

'Can you build an e-course on a Squarespace website?'

So when Sophie of Sophie Zen approached us to build her signature e-course 'Sacred Social' using the Squarespace platform, it was a challenge we just had to accept.

The goal here was to create a flexible website that allowed Sophie to create and update the content as she pleased (one of the many reasons we LOVE Squarespace in the first place), that also hosted the sales page - which needed to be striking to capture her audience and that provided a secure membership platform for her e-course participants to access all of her Sacred Social goodness.

Where it all began

Before we jump too far down the rabbit hole, we wanted to share with you what Sacred social was all about and the vision Sophie had for her new flagship program.


The Brand

The branding for Sacred Social took it's roots from a couple of digital products we'd already helped Sophie Zen bring to life. These being her powerful 7-day email series 'Transform Your Social Media' and her signature 'Spirited Social Media Circle' offering.

Creating The Vision

The Sales Page

Before diving into the deep end with any sales page, it's important to have a very clear vision! As Sophie already had a brand developed for Sacred Social, it was a breeze to extend this one step further into the sales page.

The purpose of any sales page is to showcase just how much value and knowledge you have to offer in the hope that your dream clients say a big 'Hell YES!' at the end of it, or better yet, skip straight to the BUY NOW button! 

When it came to the values that Sophie wanted to translate through her sales page, they were:

"Spiritual, Magnetic, Transformational, Feminine and Magical"

Thanks to the work Sophie had done as part of the E-course Launch Formula, she already had a clear brief and direction for both her sales page and course in general. We really couldn't stress the importance enough of doing the work before you begin to invest in the technology or design setup.

Takeaway notes:

  • Create a clear brand vision for your sales page and e-course. If it's different to your existing branding, you might like to invest in a branding project first, to make sure it really meets your target audience.
  • Create your sales page outline before your design begins. Whilst there's some specifics that can be added in and adjusted later, having your copy already written (preferably by a professional copywriter) will make the process a lot more streamlined.

The Course Content

Let's be honest, if you've read this far in the post you might be thinking to yourself 'This sounds like so much work and I haven't even got to the content creating part yet!'. Or perhaps you've already created your course, but you're just waiting to put the finishing touches on it.

Everyone creates their course differently, includes different content, activities and resources. When it came to Sacred Social, Sophie wasn't 100% sure what it would look like yet, and knew for a fact that it was a program that was going to grow and expand. So it was important to keep the resources we developed flexible for Sophie to be able to update them in the future if need be.

Now of course, this approach isn't for everyone, but if you're looking to adapt and change the content yourself - be sure to communicate that to your designer in the first instance, as it will help them cater the development of your course content with that in mind. Alternatively, if you'd prefer they handle all the future updates then I'm sure they'd love to continue working with you in that way!

Takeaway notes:

  • Even if you're creating the course content as the course is running, be sure to discuss your requirements with your designer, so you can make sure anything they create will give you flexibility and meet your needs.

Like we said at the beginning, we get asked ALOT about what you can and can't do with Squarespace....

As we tell each and everyone of our clients, we're yet to find something that is absolutely NOT possible with Squarespace.

So if you're thinking about setting up an e-course through Squarespace, here's a little insight into the technology you're going to have to consider.

Payment Gateway:

Because you actually want people to pay you don't you??? Something like Stripe, Paypal or even integrating with a third-party app such as MoonClerk or XXXX will do the trick!

Email Software:

This is the little genius that will keep your new enrolees informed, deliver that all important course content as well as any announcements throughout the course. Our preference is ConvertKit, which is exactly what we used for Sacred Social.


Membership Integration:

Our favourite is Sentry Login. Why? Well we've seen how others work, and they're less than secure (read: they only 'hide' your content, so if someone has the URL they can still access it). Sentry Login allows you to create individual usernames and passwords, along with multiple membership types, so you can potentially have multiple levels of membership!

Shine From Within

There are some clients that pop into your inbox and you know instantly that it's going to be a big resounding YES to working with them.

Some might call this a 'dream client' - or at least I know I would! 

When Amanda from Shine From Within reached out to JuJu Creative Hub we knew that this was a project we couldn't wait to dive into.

Former model and current Youth Mentor, Shine From Within's CEO Amanda Rootsey came to JuJu Creative Hub with a logo lovingly designed by one of her previous program participants and wanted this fresh new look to be represented across Shine From Within's online home.

Whilst our focus was on updating the homepage, making it a little more strategic and helping Amanda achieve some of the big goals and dreams she had for Shine From Within.

A Sneak Peek Behind The Process

Because we knew that there were some big things in store for Shine From Within, we started by getting clear on what Amanda's goals were for the business in the near future. Here's a little taste:

We want our website to:

Have a modern & consistent feel that's young and fun, to attract young teen girls to explore our content. But we need to keep our things professional as we want parents and potential youth mentors to feel like they are in safe hands.  
Make our teenage girls feel excited and welcome in preparation for a future online program for teen girlsand exciting new book that's in the works.

We love some some serious list building action to happen this year. We've got 3 brand new opt-ins for each of our main audiences -  parents of teenage girls, teenage girls and youth mentors.

In case you missed it, yes - Shine From Within had 3 distinct target audiences, each with their own reason for landing on and we needed to make one website work for all 3!

So we could ensure that each of these audiences knew they were in the right place as soon as they landed on the Shine From Within website, we begun by getting clear on what key aspects needed to be included on the homepage - to make the absolute maximum impact on each of their target audiences.

How did we do this exactly? 

We used what I call the Smorgasboard Homepage Method™ - through this method we share just a little snippet of what your dream clients have in store for them when they dive a little deeper into your website. 

We started with some full-width slider banners - one for each of Shine From Within's main audiences. We have to say, we were pretty lucky to be working with some amazing images taken by Bayleigh Vedelago (so if you've been tossing up whether you should have that professional brand shoot before you launch your new website, I'd say it's a must!).

Because list-building was such an important part of the goals for Shine From Within's new website, we made sure there were plenty of opportunities for parents, teen girls and future youth mentors opt-in and get their hands on Amanda's amazing new opt-in goodies!

So we included some of these beautiful easy-to-access opt-in features.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

We teach teen and tween girls how to shine from within through our holiday programs, one-on-one mentoring and resources.  We also support women to become nurturing youth mentors in their own community through our Youth Mentor Training online program.  At the heart of it all, we believe that all teens (and adults for that matter!) should feel comfortable and happy within themselves, just as they are.

What can people find on your website? Who does it help and what can they expect to experience as a result?

On our website you'll find free resources for teens, parents and youth mentors as well as information about our upcoming programs and retreats.  You'll also find useful blog posts to support parents, educate teens and inspire anyone who wants to work with youth. 

You'll also find our natural beauty online store, which has a range of ethical, natural, vegan skincare and make up. 

What's the best piece of advice you have to offer readers of your site/future clients?

We all have something to share and can support young people in some way.  It's often by tapping into our own authenticity and being vulnerable (whether that's with our children, audience, students or clients) that we can truly create a lasting bond and open up a supportive, safe space.  

Can you tell use a bit about the evolution of creating your business?


Many years ago, as a teen myself I enrolled in a deportment and modelling course, or rather my Mum enrolled me!  It changed my life.  It was the first time I had heard about 'confidence' and 'believing in yourself' - I was hooked.  I trained up with them and started teaching teens while I was on my breaks at university.  


Once I graduated with a Bachelor of Business, I modelled in Europe for a little while and was really pushing myself to be something that I'm not.  I was a classic people-pleaser and introvert trying ever-so-hard to be an extrovert.  But it all came to a holt when I discovered a lump on my neck, which turned out to be stage 4 cancer.  


The 2 years that followed opened up my world to natural health, gentle living and meditation and, once I was in remission, I KNEW I had to share this with teens.  So I created Shine From Within to deliver programs for teen girls which bring together life skills such as make up, style and job interview skills with wellness and self-worth subjects.  


We've been running for about 4 years now on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland and have taught hundreds of girls through our school presentations, holiday programs, retreats and more.  Realising I couldn't do it all on my own, I launched the Youth Mentor Training program in 2016 to support other women who are feeling called to put together their own unique programs for youth.  It's been incredible to watch these women launch their businesses and run amazing workshops based on their own passions and strengths.  Together we are helping so many more girls.  


In terms of achievements, I'm a finalist in 2 categories of the Beautiful You Coaching Awards - as International Coach of the Year and Program of the Year.  I'm also just finishing off my book for teen girls which will be out with Hay House late 2017!  


What things did you consider before seeking to work with a designer?

I considered updating my website myself but I felt like I had taken it as far as I could.  I'm quite savvy with building it but I knew that if I found the right designer they would just take it to a whole new level.  

What other products/services did you invest in to help you bring this to life?

I invested in a really great photographer to bring the project to life and had been mindful of capturing great photos and footage while running the last few programs.  I really wanted the website to capture the fun and beauty of our programs.  


How did you share your new-look online home with your tribe??
I gave them lots of sneak peaks through instagram stories/snapchat as we went along and then shared it via social media and our newsletter list with a 'party' offering an extra bonus if they enrolled in one of our programs to celebrate.  The graphic that you shared with us to announce it was very useful!

What parts of the process of creating your new website did you enjoy the most?

I loved collaborating with someone that I felt really got me and got the vision for the new website.  I also really loved collaborating with one of my first students to design some elements of the re-brand.  And getting a look at the website as it all started to come together was so so exciting!

What was the evolution of creating this e-book/e-course?

I had just recently gone through huge changes internally and within the world around me. I had recently seperated from my husband of 3 years, moved to a new area and started a new life and new relationship and it had me re-evaluate a few things like what I 'really' wanted to be doing and that was writing and being creative mostly. I then had an epiphany that I was infact living The Untamed Life and the sense of freedom that comes from that is like no other but I want people to realise this journey starts from within, its about being courageous from within and unlocking a kind of freedom that cannot be measured by physical appearance, money or status etc. And thats what I try to teach in the 7 Days 7 Ways guide.

How did you go about developing the content for your e-course/e-book?

I started by asking my fellow female friends in business what it meant for them to be living The Untamed Life and I discovered there was a common theme. While they all had different and inspiring stories to share, it all came back to connecting to your true essence, your higher self, your intuition - that is the key. So that became the main focus, on how to do that and express this in your work and life. And I realised actually how challenging this can be for a lot of us. I then had a lot of content to work with from these interviews which I used to help create the workbook. There were 7 altogether, so I made it a 7 day guide.

What things did you consider before seeking out to work with a designer?

I knew I wanted to work with someone to bring it to life. I had the ideas there but I knew I just wouldn't have the time nor the skills to make it look as polished as it is now!

What other products/services did you invest in to help you bring this to life?

Lucky I am a copywriter and online business strategist so I could do that part myself, I pretty much left it in the capable hands of Elle to tell me what I needed haha! She also helped me put together some graphics and gave me some tips on best way to market the launch so that was great to have a wing lady help. I already had wordpress and we used that for the landing page (while website still in progress) and so all I really needed was Mailchimp to deliver the content to my subscribers. Other than that I just needed google drive to share content but I already had that so it was pretty simple. I like keeping things simple and minimal so it worked well.  

Were there any resources you reached for when planning your e-course/e-book launch?

I relied on the expert advice from Elle ;) Other than that I'm lucky to have experience with these things and access to an epic mastermind of lady bosses so I didn't really need to reach out for further resources.

What parts of the process of creating your e-book/e-course did you enjoy the most?

Getting the designs back from Elle, and seeing what she created. That always gave me a high !!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m is a cheerleader and side kick for change-making women in business and I work with clients to help unleash their creative energy and find more direction and purpose in their online communications. Offering social media strategy and management, I also has a degree in marketing and journalism with experience working in the magazine industry. This allows me to offer clients a range of services including writing, editing and public relations. Specialising in feminine and change-making brands whose social media platforms make you feel something, I have a range of experience in the health and wellness, online and creative spaces.

What is your E-book/E-course about? Who does it help and what can they expect to experience as a result?

'7 Steps To Getting Started' is a tried-and-tested guide for anyone who has spent the past few weeks, months or, in my case, years, talking about starting [insert creative project here]. It doesn’t matter whether it is a blog, fashion label, painting, craft project or book. This is a guide to getting started.

What's the best piece of advice in your e-product?

At the end of the day, you could do all the planning in the world and it wouldn’t mean a thing unless you started. Don’t get bogged down in planning.

Creativity demands action! Go easy on yourself and give yourself time and space to grow. You don’t need to know everything before you start. After all, things will change anyway. Qualifications and certifications are great, but not necessary. Everything you ever need is already within you.

What was the evolution of creating this e-book/e-course?

'7 Steps To Getting Started' was the first offering that I created for my tribe at Sophie Zen. I launched it, before I even launched my website, as an introduction to what my business stood for. I played with lots of ideas for 'opt-ins' but decided on '7 Steps To Getting Started' when I asked myself one simple question: what do you know really, really well? And after taking my business idea to implementation stage, I felt like I knew a lot about 'getting started'.

How did you go about developing the content for your e-course/e-book?

As my business was just beginning, the content was something that I sat down with the intention to create. The words absolutely flew out of me in just a few days.

What things did you consider before seeking out to work with a designer?

I knew 100% that creating an ebook was something that I needed design help with and I absolutely adored Elle’s style.

What other products/services did you invest in to help you bring this to life?

I worked with a copywriter to get the message right and sent it off to Elle to design. The entire process was exciting and joyful. Everyone I worked with shared the same excitement as me and did everything they could to help nurture the idea and bring it to life. Not only did Elle help to design my ebook but she also helped with the marketing and promotional strategy. This proved to be absolutely priceless!

I was in the process of doing Bright-Eyed and Blog-Hearted by Rachel MacDonald so that really, really helped!

10 Minutes to Deep Confidence packs together all my go-to confidence tricks and rituals in a quick and fun exercise. It's a tool that will help you rock any situation with real, genuine confidence. After using it you can expect to feel grounded, invincible and ready to go for your dreams!

What's the best piece of advice in your e-product?

The golden nugget of wisdom at the heart of this tool is: real confidence doesn't come from being good at stuff. Real confidence comes from understanding that you are a worthy and fully acceptable person no matter what happens. Once you ground into that feeling, nothing can touch you.

What was the evolution of creating this e-book/e-course?

I've had a massive transformational journey going from shy, conforming dreamer to a confident girl bringing my ideas to life. But of course I still have moments of self-doubt and feeling lost in myself. But now instead of spiralling down into those feelings I've learned to turn to my confidence tricks right away and reground into myself.  When my clients started asking me to share these tricks instead of just writing a blog post I decided to pack them all in a gorgeous easy-to-use tool!

How did you go about developing the content for your e-course/e-book?

All the content in this tool comes from rituals, exercises, and journal prompts that I use for myself on a weekly basis. I've been a human guinea pig for confidence rituals over the years, so these are tried-and-tested!

What things did you consider before seeking out to work with a designer?

I stopped trying to design my own products a long time ago! I love putting my heart into creating the content of the product and then collaborating with someone else's visual genius to pull it all together into a magical product that my clients will love using.

What other products/services did you invest in to help you bring this to life?

I wanted to make sure this tool was as fun and easy to use as possible so I got a handful of my peers and clients to test use it before sending it for design. I also worked with a professional photographer to snap a few photos to infuse a personal side into the design. And finally I hired a web designer to place the product on my website where it can best be found.

Were there any resources you reached for when planning your e-course/e-book launch?

I found this post from Design Sponge helpful for nudging me to launch this tool in a bigger and bolder way than I was used to:

What parts of the process of creating your e-book/e-course did you enjoy the most?

I enjoyed creating the content of this tool with a constant practical lens of "How can this tool actually be useful for women? How can it help them get real results with their confidence?"

And then of course seeing all that effort I put into creating the content of the tool being whipped up into a gorgeous design by Elle was SO MUCH FUN. I always had such a big smile on my face when she would send over snippets and sneak-peaks.


Oh Shoot! : 'A How-To Guide for Loving Your Time In Front of the Camera'

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Eyes of Love specialise in capturing natural and relaxed portraits of women in business.

What is your E-book/E-course about? Who does it help and what can they expect to experience as a result?

The most common feedback I receive from clients prior to their photo shoot is that they're nervous. This ebook was lovingly created as a guide to help women put their best foot forward, feeling confident and camera ready. 

What's the best piece of advice in your e-product?

To capture gorgeous portraits and emotions, it's important to be playful and fluid in front of the camera.  Multiple looks can be achieved from one base pose: looking at the camera, smiling, looking away, looking down/up.  The goal is to end up with a variety of poses and images.

What was the evolution of creating this e-book/e-course?

I observed that fear, negative self-talk and resistance was holding my clients back from having their picture taken. 

Which is such a shame! I wholeheartedly believe that every woman can photograph beautifully, without exception. We don't need to wait until we've lost weight or for 'perfect' conditions.

My ebook guides women through the entire photoshoot planning process. It was created with the intention of giving women the confidence to step out and shine in front the camera.

How did you go about developing the content for your e-course/e-book?

I had already written two magazine articles and many client emails / conversations to draw upon as a resource in creating the ebook. 

What things did you consider before seeking out to work with a designer?

I don't have the graphic design skills to create an ebook myself, I wanted it to be practical, beautiful and well designed.

What other products/services did you invest in to help you bring this to life?

I had a copywriter proof read and edit the content.

What parts of the process of creating your e-book/e-course did you enjoy the most?

I wanted the my ebook to feel really loving and nurturing for my readers.  I enjoyed writing the content, it's soothing and encouraging, like having a pep-talk with your bestie.

I'm so appreciative of all the women I was able to photograph and feature in the ebook. My intention was really loving - to see the imagery, words and great design come together was a really satisfying feeling.
